Switched out my blog banner for the holidays. Sam made this last year in December. I coaxed Jack into making one as well, framed both of them in 12x12 frames and now we put them out with our Christmas decorations. Super fun, easy kid project. If you'd like info on how to do it and a great book with lots of examples, check out this post from last year.
Ever since Sam saw them come out of the decorations box on Saturday, he's talked about making another one, so stay tuned!
My December Daily mini book is still going strong.
For the 6th I used a playing card from a box of vintage cards I bought a few years ago. I'm always on the look-out for vintage game cards and flash cards - they're great for adding to mini books like this. Adhered that to a transparency.
I covered the back of the playing card with an Ikea gift card. On Saturday we switched out Jack's twin bed for a queen. He's 5 feet 5 inches (almost 11 years old!) and he just didn't fit into his twin bed anymore. You know the movie Elf when he trys to fit on the top bunk, picture Jack looking like that in a twin bed! I took Jack to Ikea and let him pick out new bedding for his new bed. I included a picture of his new bedding - he loves it! He said he wanted something with a punch of color - check out the lime green! Lime green sheets to match, too. We had such a great time shopping together. As we were driving home, he thanked me for spending so much money on him. He's such a sweet kid.
I asked him to write his thoughts about shopping for his new bed on the back of the photo since he was so excited getting it. You can tell he's a 10 year old, short and sweet and to the point.
I used a party invite for the next page and journaled about our crazy Saturday on the back - putting out the Christmas decorations, redecorating Jack's room and 2 Christmas parties.
