40!
Yikes! Where did the time go? Where did the last 10 years go? Heck, where did the last day go?
Can't believe I'm 40. Sure don't feel it. Feel more like 20. Guess that's a good thing. As long as I don't dress like I'm 20. Or act like I'm 20. (Not that there's anything wrong with dressing like you're 20 and acting like you're 20. WHEN you're 20).
Somedays I don't look 40, at least I don't think so. Other days, I think I just might skate by with early bird senior citizen discount...
So blessed to have a great husband, our boys, wonderful friends, a caring family, a fun, flexible job in an industry that I love and the list could go on and on.
Every year on my birthday I think back to my birthday 4 years ago. It was a tough one, I was out of town in Hartford, Connecticut. Traveling for my old job. Stressful day at a client site. Feeling down because I was headed back to my hotel by myself. When I arrived at the hotel there was a Fed Ex package waiting for me. There was a note on the box telling me to call my friends Jessi and Allison before I opened it.
And this is what I found inside
A box filled with birthday cards. A LOT of cards. 80+ cards. Cards mostly from people I had never met. Cards from people that I 'knew' from spending time back then on 2Peas (ok, A LOT of time back then).
I was stunned. Balling like a baby on the phone with them. I couldn't believe the amount of work and detail and coordination Jessi and Allison spent putting it all together with so many different people all over the US. And all of the work and detail so many different people put into making cards for me, an 'internet' friend.
Honestly it was one of the best birthdays I can remember. Even though I was in a hotel room alone, away from home, away from my family and friends. The whole thing stills means so much to me that it brings tears to my eyes. What awesome friends!
Working a half day today, came in to pink and white streamers all over my desk and balloons. FUN! Later this afternoon Nick and I are headed to an outdoor concert at Red Butte Gardens with some friends to see KT Tunstall. It's the most beautiful setting, an outdoor arboretum. We get there early to ensure good seats, bring a picnic, a little wine - a great time. Really looking forward to it!
Age is something that has never bothered me. Happy to say that's still the case, even at 40!
