Today's entry - appropriately titled 'the year of the deer'
In September, I made 2 different deer purchases in 2 different places on 2 different days in 2 different cities, neither with the intent of using them for the holidays. My original intent was to work them into our home decor.
The first - a deer silhouette painted on some old, rough boards.
The second - a pair of what had to be the ugliest brown ceramic, scariest beady-eyed creatures that you've ever seen deer heads. In fact, I'm not sure they're even deer. Something with antlers. I bought them with the specific intent of spray painting them white, and I did. Then they sat on the bookshelves in our family room.
Fast forward to the end of November when I started decorating for the holidays. My first thought - hey, it would be fun to add a red pom pom to the deer silhouette's nose and turn him into Rudolph for the holidays. Done! ( My second thought - hey, those 2 'no longer scary, now white and friendly looking' deer heads, maybe I could work those into the mantle decor in our living room. Done!
I usually include at least one entry in my December Daily every year for decorations. Thought this would be a good one to focus on this year!
Adhered the letter and deer stickers to the front of the page protector; added nothing inside the pocket so you'd see through to the next page.
Incidentally, the pom pom on the deer's nose in the in the picture - not the actual size of the pom pom on his nose in real life :) I added the pom pom to the front of the page protector.
