A Little Icky
We're in a euchre group with some friends. 3 other couples. We get together once a month at one of our houses. We eat some appetizers, drink some wine, split up the couples and play cards. And it's competitive and it's loads of fun. We played last Saturday night. On Sunday morning, I woke up with a bad migraine and a sore throat. I chalked it up to having a little bit too much fun on Saturday night. Went back to bed for a few hours that morning, struggled through the migraine for the rest of the day, and woke up the next day feeling great, with the exception of the sore throat. Fast forward to Wednesday am. Still felt great, with the exception of the sore throat. Made a dr's appointment for that night. Turns out it wasn't the fun on Saturday night that did me in.... A rapid strep test later, and it was confirmed. Strep Throat. A prescription for amoxicillin, and I was on my way to feeling better. Hey, it could have been worse, right? A little thing called swine flu surely would have made it VERY ICKY...
A Little Tricky
Last Tuesday we decided I'd head out to San Diego for the Scrapbook Expo with a group from BasicGrey. Kelly and Becky were lined up to teach some classes and I was along for the ride with Rachel and Jen. But then came the unexpected icky, which made it a little tricky. Strep is super, duper contagious. I started taking the amoxicillin on Wednesday night, but they say it doesn't kick in for a good 24 hours at which point you're supposed to be no longer contagious, so that meant Thursday night. And I was leaving on Thursday morning, and staying in a hotel room with Rachel and Jen. And technically still contagious until Thursday night. So I made few phone calls to Rachel and Jen, told them about the icky, and they said no worries, sure it will be fine. And then there was the thought of getting on a plane with air that's not the freshest, with the swine flu threat. But hey, I was on amoxicillin, and that's better than nothing, right?! So off to San Diego we headed on Thursday morning. Kelly and Becky taught fantastic classes using our 2 newest lines - Lime Rickey and Wisteria. I ran into quite a few people at the Expo that went to Inspiration Unlimited last year, and even ran into my friend Heidi that I met at Winter CHA! Got home this afternoon. Fun weekend! Lots of laughing and being silly. Really enjoyed getting to know Kelly and Becky and Rachel and Jen better over the weekend. A LOT better! Maybe they're thinking a little too better, if you ask them ;)
A Little Lime Rickey
And if you've made it this far and are a STILL reading, I'm amazed.
Here's a quick Lime Rickey layout I made last weekend that I wanted to share.
I cut a few circles from the Lime Rickey Sarsaparilla, mounted them on pop dots along with more circles and the swirly thing from the Lime Rickey Chip Sticker Shapes, mixed in the Offbeat Sweets Mini Monogram Stickers and the Lime Rickey Alphabet Stickers for the title, and put it on Hoboken and then the Fuzzy Navel. I love this line! It's so fun and summery. Great for girls, boys, summer, and as it turns out, baseball.
I took this photo last spring when Sam was in baseball and have been waiting to scrap it. LOVE this photo! See the red building in the upper right? That's the snack shack. The kids had a certain amount they were able to spend after each game (when you join, you pay $20 for the season, that gives your child a bit of 'credit' to spend at the snack shack vs. a different parent bringing the post game treats - fab idea if you ask me). Talk about an all out SPRINT to the snack shack after each game - the kids loved it!
Both Lime Rickey and Wisteria hit the stores over the last few weeks. If you haven't shopped yet, do it quick! Word on the street with the stores is that it's selling like hotcakes!
I'll have a few more Lime Rickey layouts to share this week and a bit more fun that you'll WANT to make sure and come back for!
Stay tuned!
Oh yah, one more thing. Managed 4.5 miles on the treadmill tonight. 1st time back on since February 17th. Sad, I know. No, not the 4.5 miles. The fact that's it's been so long since I've been on. I could make up a bunch of excuses, like the fact that the treadmill broke (for the 2nd time) on February 17th, or that I came down with bronchitis the week after that. But, that still leaves at least the entire month of March. And the entire month of April. So, I thinks it's best that I not make excuses, eh?
