Sometimes you think you're done, and you're not.
Hmmm. Now this could be an interesting post.
That could mean...
...done looking for a job and you're not. NOPE, I'm hired.
...done having kids and you're not. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. We are definitely done.
...done being single and you're not. Ah, NOPE. We are definitely still married.
And I could go on, but I won't.
But I will settle on this one - ...done with decorating and you're not.
We've lived in our house for 9 years. We bought it as it was being built, so we were able to pick a lot of the details. And we've lived in it for 9 years, so I've decorated it a lot. Just when I get to the point where I think I'm done decorating, I see something. Something I think I can't live without and I decide I'm not done.
I was looking at the Studio Calico blog last month and saw this post. You see that bird stand on the table in the last photo? Yep. I was hooked. But I wasn't working at the time, so I didn't buy it. But I thought about it. And thought. One day I even dropped in to Pier 1 to see if they had any. Nope. WHEW. I was saved. They didn't have any, so I couldn't be tempted.
At the end of March I was in Toronto. Vicki picked me up in Buffalo and we did some shopping before we headed over the border. And I saw a Pier 1. And we stopped. And they had the bird stand. And I bought it (I'd accepted the job offer with BasicGrey at this point, so buying it was an option!). And I figured I'd put it in my suitcase. And I took it to the car.
And at that point I figured I was done. Turns out I wasn't.
And... hello?! What was I thinking. WAY TOO TALL to fit.
So, I left it at Vicki's, she'd mail it to me. When I got home I started thinking. How in the world was she going to find a box big enough? And how much would it cost to mail it? And when would she send it?
So, earlier this month I stopped in to another Pier 1. And lo and behold, they had one. The last one. And I bought it, because surely it would cost just as much to have Vicki ship the 1st one. And brought it home. And gifted the original one to Vicki. And I decorated it on Sunday and now it has a home in the kitchen.
And maybe, now, I'm done decorating.
